Millions of “wellness” advocates across America are currently outdoors, bright and early, revving up their cardiovascular engines for life’s speedway. Yet we’re overlooking the fact that our minds need limbering up every bit as much as our bodies. We need to shape our moral muscles and tone our consciences too. Our psyches hunger to be fortified daily with ample spiritual iron, for we are whole beings. Therefore, we require readable, digestible, and achievable exercise for traversing both the difficult and the delightful passages of our existence. That is, if we truly desire to Wake Up!
Over the five decades of my professional life, I have shared several of these Wake Up! challenges with friends and clients alike. And I’ve found that folks, when given a specific invitation or doable exercise every day, are motivated to stretch their minds and recharge their spiritual batteries, sometimes making attitudinal and behavioral changes, however small, on that very day. Daily exercising empowers us to feel better about ourselves, make a genuine difference at work, become more conscious citizens, as well as deepen our loved-bonds.
So, here’s an entire year’s worth of lessons that have “used me” and hopefully might use you. The sole aim of this book is to awaken oneself while healing our world.
